Boat Crashes Into House

Proctroville, Ohio (WSAZ)-A telephone call may have saved a man's life Sunday afternoon. He was sitting in his bedroom but got up to answer his phone. A few seconds later a large boat crashed into the room where he had just been sitting.

Police say the crash was an accident. A neighbor was hooking his boat up to a trailer when it slipped down the hill and slammed into a house.

The accident happened Sunday afternoon. Police tell us they may need to bring a crane in to remove the boat.

This accident happened in a neighborhood in Bradrick. That is near Proctorville in Lawrence County, Ohio.

Was the combination of the trailer and car towing the trailer within the towing capacity of the

A Kingston Mines man riding his motorcycle dies after a boat was thrown off its trailer on Route 24 Saturday afternoon. Authorities say a Glasford man driving a station wagon and pulling a boat hit a center guardrail around 3:30 p.m.

The crash sent the boat flying off its trailer and into the opposite lane where it hit a motorcycle being driven by 37-year-old Bernard Faust. The Peoria County Coroner says Faust died about 45 minutes later at the scene.

Authorities say he was not wearing a helmet and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Police say the driver of the station wagon, Robert Hartman from Glasford, says he blacked out. Hartman was issued a ticket for failure to reduce speed.

The crash closed eastbound 24 for a couple hours.

LEE COUNTY: An accident involving a 28-foot boat turned heads Wednesday evening. Oddly, they weren't the heads of fellow boaters, but people driving along US-41.

The 20,000 pound speedboat was stretching across US-41 near Lakeland Drive in North Fort Myers after it fell off the trailer that was carrying it.

Officials on the scene said the driver pulling the trailer was slowing down while approaching a red light and the trailer hitch broke off.

That hurled the boat off the trailer, across the median and into oncoming traffic. Surprisingly, little damage was done and no was hurt.

One southbound lane of US-41 was partially shut down for a few hours while the mess was cleaned up.

It took a giant crane to put the boat back onto the trailer.

Man Run Over by Trailer in Upper Pottsgrove

Police say an 84 year-old man was run over by a trailer this morning in Upper Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County. According to police, the family had just returned home from vacation and unhinged a trailer they had been towing behind their car. The trailer got loose and ran over the man as he stood behind the trailer. He was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital. He is currently in stable condition. Police have identified the man as Charles Beekley.

EL PASO, Texas -- A rollover crash claimed the lives of a man and a woman at the scene while two other women and a man are sent to the hospital with life threatening injuries. The crash, on mile marker 61 near Hudspeth County, happened at around 6:30 p.m. Monday. Sheriff's investigators were at the scene for more than four hours trying to find out exactly what caused the rollover. The Sheriff's spokesman, Jesse Tovar said this 1996 Ford Explorer pulling a flat bed and carrying the five occupants rolled over. The SUV has Chihuahua plates but it's possible that the occupants might have a connection to El Paso.Sheriff's investigators said they believe the SUV drifted to the left and because the flat bed it was pulling was too heavy for it to tow, it could have possibly caused the rollover. It is unknown if other factors contributed to the crash."Right now, it's yet to be determined what occurred. We do understand that the 1996 Ford Explorer was pulling a flat bed sports utility trailer. We don't know how it happened that it rolled over, we don't know the speed or the cause of the accident," said Tovar.A stretch of I-10 near mile marker 61 was down to one lane for several hours.

MADISON COUNTY, Ohio -- An accident on Interstate 71 in Madison County closed northbound lanes for more than an hour beginning at 1:10 Saturday afternoon while emergency workers removed the injured and sorted out what happened.

According to early reports from the Circleville post of the Highway Patrol, a horse trailer being pulled southwest bound on I-71 west of the Mount Sterling exit broke off its lead vehicle and traveled across the median, striking an SUV which was northeast bound.

A commercial vehicle of some kind then hit the SUV and trailer. One person was airlifted to OSU Medical Center and two others were taken to local medical facilities.

Witnesses told NBC 4 that the trailer was part of a small convoy of buses and equipment vehicles headed from a Delaware County School with band members headed for a competition near Cincinnati. The buses were reportedly not involved with any collision. The accident is still in early stages of investigation. Officials at the Olentangy High School in Lewis Center say their band buses were en route to the competition when the mishap occurred. No staff or students were injured, according to school board president, Scott Galloway.
